Question by 6005250: Is stainless steel magnetic?
I noticed a friend’s appliances are not magnetic, and mine are. Both are “stainless steel.” Are there two types of stainless steel or something? Thanks

There are many alloys under the general category of stainless steel. 400-series alloys are all magnetic to some degree. 300-series alloys are generally non-magnetic, but some alloys become magnetic when cold-worked (i.e. rolled or drawn).
